Salobreña is situated on the Costa Tropical coast, the town itself consists of an old and a new part. The old part can be easily seen on arrival, with its castle, built in the 10th century, sitting high on the hill overlooking the newer part of the town.
In the main part of town there are many shops as well as the typical Spanish, whitewashed houses.
The 16th century church, Iglesia de Nuestra Senora del Rosario, built on top of an old mosque, can also be found in this area and is worth a visit
The town has a beautiful beach front with a promenade stretching as far as the eye can see. When strolling along this promenade you will find many bars and restaurants in which you can relax, look out to sea; enjoy a cold beer or coffee and some tapas. Along this shoreline is the Parque de la Fuent, a shady haven where you could sit for a while. You could also walk around the Penon, the massive rock jutting out to sea, a prison in the first and second centuries, eventually a Christian burial site
Salobreña is only a 45minute drive from Granada and just over an hour from the Sierra Nevada Mountains, where visitors go to ski. These mountains form a magnificent backdrop to the town of Salobreña.
